Although there’s technically no wrong way to approach folk-rock, you wouldn’t know it from some of the tepid beardo nonsense that passes for rustic Americana.
Blessed Feathers is doing it right. The Wisconsin combo’s reverb-drenched folk-rock is immersive, alluring and downright gorgeous. Debut EP “Peaceful Beasts In an Ocean of Weeds” is among the year’s most pleasant surprises, a backwoods treasure trove swathed in gauze and haunted by specters.
If that’s not sufficiently enticing, they’ll be joined Friday by Columbus-based electro-tropical masterminds Way Yes. Both bands will be on their way to next weekend’s CMJ Music Marathon in New York and could use your funds and enthusiasm.
