Columbus doesn’t have a shortage of burger joints. But Flip Side’s Easton location is a welcome addition to the lineup thanks to delicious burgers made from Ohio raised, grass-fed beef and some excellent craft beers to wash them down. Making Flip Side even more attractive are a few food and drink specials worth taking advantage of during happy hour.
Much like Columbus’ abundance of burger places, there’s a quickly growing number of excellent craft beers lists at local bars. And more craft beers are always a good thing. Flip Side boasts 20 taps, 19 of which are solid craft selections ($5-$7).
During happy hour a handful of these drafts are half-off. Flip Side rotates which beers are discounted to encourage those new (and old) to craft beer to try something different every time they come in.
Whether it’s half-off or not, the Heavy Seas Loose Cannon Hop Ale ($6) is highly recommended. It’s a very drinkable IPA with big hop and grapefruit flavors. The Mt. Carmel Harvest Ale ($6.50), a dry hopped ESB, is another excellent selection that is currently half-off during happy hour. All well liquors are also half-off during happy hour.
The traditional Simplicity Burger, plain with lettuce and tomato, and the “Say Cheese,” add your choice of cheese, are both $5 during happy hour. Thanks to the high-quality meat, and perfect cook, either of these will satiate your burger craving.
If you’re looking for a more inventive option, Flip Side has those too. They’re not discounted during happy hour, but with the drink specials and plain ($4), gravy ($6) and truffle fries ($6) you’re still getting a steal of a meal.
The One Red Door Burger ($10) topped with crispy shallots, melted brie and date applewood bacon aioli is the standout. It’s juicy, but not greasy, and the shallots paired with the salty/sweet aioli create a glut of flavors in each bite. Besides the burgers, Flip Side offers salads, sandwiches and some bar snacks. Try the Kobe Beef Corn Dogs ($7).
