Previews: Columbus Jazz Orchestra Home for the Holidays

From the November 29, 2012 edition

CJO’s renowned artistic director Byron Stripling leads and Broadway songstress Marva Hicks (pictured) guest stars in this roundup of musical holiday favorites. Go if you prefer “Scrooged” to “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Hicks, by the way, has toured the world with Whitney Houston, James Ingram, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, on whose album Characters she sang background vocals. Her musical pedigree is complemented by a list of film and TV credits that include “Virtuosity” starring Denzel Washington, “L.A. Law,” “Star Trek: Voyager” and “Sister, Sister.”

Single tickets are $52 for the main floor, $46 for the first balcony and $30 for the second balcony. Teaming up with CJO for this show is the Salvation Army, which will have several of its iconic red kettles around the theater ready for donations from those feeling full of holiday warm fuzzies.
