Getting locked up on manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic does wonders for your heavy metal cred, but Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe’s ordeal this year was legitimately scary. (Those looking for cartoonish behavior should stick to the band’s “Redneck” video.) Blythe was arrested and jailed over the summer, accused of pushing 19-year-old Daniel Nosek off stage in a 2010 incident that caused Nosek’s death via head injury.
After five tense weeks, Blythe got out on bail, flew back to the States and made an emotional return to the stage, but the case could still move forward. Until further notice, the comeback tour rolls on for now, including a stop at LC Pavilion this Sunday. The Virginia combo is touring behind Desolation, its newest batch of Pantera-inspired Southern swagger.
Although Lamb of God’s canceled LC show during Blythe’s incarceration was to feature Metalocalypse: Dethklok, this Sunday’s gig includes In Flames, Cannibal Corpse and Sylosis.
