The symphony’s director Jean-Marie Zeitouni and guest pianist Marc-Andre Hamelin (pictured), respected for his debut concert with the Berlin Philharmonic, will lead audience members through a zesty tour of music inspired by Vienna’s dances composed by classical mainstays.
Among the program’s highlights: Johann Strauss’ “Overture to Die Fledermaus” and Emperor Waltz; Richard Strauss’ “Burleske” in D minor for piano and orchestra; Johannes Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No.1 in G minor; and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Concert-Rondo in D major for piano and orchestra.
Tickets are $25-$65; head to the theater an hour early to hear WOSU’s classical music connoisseur Christopher Purdy talk about the music.
