Pallbearer at the Summit

Here’s one of many great reasons to support the fundraisers staving off eviction for metal- and punk-friendly Clintonville record store Dreadful Sounds: They sometimes bring bands like Pallbearer to Columbus.

Little Rock’s leading doom specialists played Ace of Cups a mere three months ago in support of their acclaimed 2012 album Sorrow and Extinction, but they’re rolling through The Summit this Monday on their way to three weeks of dates opening for Norwegian black metal demigods Enslaved. They could have chosen any city between Little Rock and Philadelphia, but Columbus is Pallbearer’s one and only pit stop.

That means those of us who missed out last time have a second shot at witnessing Pallbearer spread on the slow-churn doom and gloom like most Southern boys spread molasses. Monday or not, this is one not to miss.

Sweetening the deal, locals Lo-Pan and Before the Eyewall will channel sky-splitting power in their own ways to warm up the crowd.
