As Ohio State continues renovating Sullivant Hall, where the dance department’s home is, the students have set up temporary digs in Pomerene Hall. For winter’s performance “Shifting Focus,” 12 graduate and undergraduate dance students choreographed works that embrace the uniqueness of their Pomerene stay.
The dances were designed for an “in the round” venue, meaning audience members can sit in a circle around the performance space. Choreographing for a space that contrasted the traditional proscenium theater setup presented “a great challenge and opportunity for our students,” said Melissa Bontempo, program coordinator.
Tickets are $5, but if you can’t make the performance in person, visit the department’s website for a live streaming presentation of “Shifting Focus.”
