The Columbus Jazz Orchestra will tap out a tribute to jazz’s power players and pioneers. Songs by Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, and more will swarm the Southern during this historical tribute. Helping with the heavy lifting is the famous jazz drummer Lewis Nash and saxophonist extraordinaire Tia Fuller, who has played with Beyonce’s all-lady touring band.
Nash, who rose to stardom in the 1980s alongside scat jazz singer Betty Carter and tenor sax player Branford Marsalis, will talk about his career with CJO artistic director Byron Stripling at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. Pre-registration is required and can be found at jazzacademy.com.
