If you thought these reverb-friendly, synth-laden, sliced-and-diced Scottish alt-rockers were benefitting from the release of a certain Tarantino flick, just wait until you hear their cover of “Unchained Melody”! Seriously, though, Django Django’s self-titled debut exists at that hard-to-find, harder-to-leave intersection of unusual and approachable. At long last, a worthy successor for The Beta Band.
Joining them at the Newport this Wednesday will be Night Moves, a fantastic Minnesota rock combo with a thing for the warmer, more psychedelic climes of Laurel Canyon. Colored Emotions, their Domino Records debut, has me wishing I would have seen them at Ace of Cups last year, but at least they’re rolling back through town now.
