Concert preview: Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band brings beards, bass to Woodlands Backyard

Big beard, booming bass, nasty scowl, filthy groove — no, this isn’t the latest Rick Ross single. It’s just about every song by Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, the Indiana hooter/hollerers who’ll kick up muck Mississippi Delta style at Woodlands Backyard this Thursday.

He seems like the kind of guy physically and personally imposing enough to dominate a room without even flexing his considerable snarl, so the gig will probably be a compelling way to stomp into the weekend.

Jimbo Mathus of Squirrel Nut Zippers and Grammy winner Alvin Youngblood Hart open the show.
