This was the tightest voting in the nightlife category — the top three were separated by only a couple hundred votes and the lowest vote getter wasn’t far behind. Let’s face it. Columbus had a bunch of great new bars open this past year. Olde Towne East’s The Tavern took the top spot because it’s part posh, part friendly neighborhood joint and all cool.
The dark wood decor is stylish and the staff and clientele are welcoming. The Tavern’s menu of upscale comfort food — including some excellent outside-the-box grilled cheeses — is hearty and delicious. And any menu item will pair nicely with a solid and diverse draft list.
