The predominant storyline throughout the rise of Columbus schizoid pop band Twenty One Pilots has been the duo’s ability to build a massive grassroots coalition, first selling out Newport Music Hall then LC Pavilion’s indoor stage without assistance from a record label.

They’re backed by a major now (Atlantic subsidiary Fueled By Ramen, which is ruling the radio thanks to Fun., Fall Out Boy, Paramore and our hometown heroes), but it’s still damn impressive to see them jump yet another notch by selling out the LC’s outdoor amphitheater.

Still, looking at the band’s schedule for this summer, a new storyline might be emerging: The band is competing with the likes of Phoenix, Pretty Lights and Kendrick Lamar to see who can appear at the most festivals. Here’s a quick rundown.
