Arts preview: Skype Q&A with “Edie & Thea” filmmakers

From the May 16, 2013 edition

Edie Windsor and Thea Spyer were engaged for 40 years before they married in 2007 in Toronto. Death did them part two years later. After Spyer’s passing, Windsor was charged thousands in inheritance taxes because the U.S. did not recognize their lesbian marriage.

The couple’s story became the cornerstone of challenging DOMA in the Supreme Court this past March. It is also the subject of this documentary by filmmakers Susan Muska and Greta Olafsdottir, who will Skype with the audience following the doc’s screening.
