Summer is possibly best celebrated with drinks on the patio; an activity to wash away the day’s doldrums of paperwork, yard work — any kind of work — for a bit of revelry. As the sun hangs low in the evening sky and sweat beads on your beverage of choice, patio imbibing is the festive respite many demand this time of the year.
Everyone has their favorite outdoor backdrop for a bit of partying, and Alive is partnering with Corona to find the city’s best. We nominated five patios for the Ultimate Party Patio, and beginning May 23 readers will vote to decide which one is the winner. In-depth features on each nominee will run throughout the summer and in August a winner will be announced.
6013 Glick Rd., Powell
This massive outdoor party area is where the suburbs get down. The Bogey Inn is its most raucous during the Memorial Tournament, but it’s a non-stop celebration throughout the summer months.
1455 W. Third Ave., Grandview
When it comes to neighborhood bars where the patio is the center of the party, the Grandview Cafe is second to none. With two stories, excellent outdoor table service and the outgoing nature of Grandview residents, if you don’t have a good time, it’s your own fault.
790 N. High St., Short North
The wooden-latticed patio is like a beacon for Short Northers looking to party. The outdoor area is constantly brimming with patrons sipping beers and margaritas or chowing on some Mexican fare.
Park Street Cantina
491 N. Park St., Arena District
A large outdoor bar, numerous frozen margarita flavors and giant cocktails — even one that comes in a pineapple — makes the Cantina a South-of-the-Border oasis inside the city. The best patio for partying like it’s Spring Break in Cancun.
Park Street Patio
533 Park St., Arena District
The Arena District’s popular spot during the spring and summer is no stranger to partying. Usually packed from happy hour to late night with young, attractive patrons (and staff), Park Street Patio is part backyard blast, part singles bar and all sun-soaked carousing.
