For this installment of the Ultimate Party Patio contest, Alive hits up a neighborhood joint. Grandview Cafe ian immensely popular neighborhood spot and has the history to prove it. For as long as Grandview residents can remember the Grandview Cafe has been there, slinging stiff drinks and dishing out hearty pub grub meals with friendly service in a good-time atmosphere.
Grandview Cafe may not be the “woo-hoo” type of party place, but there’s an exuberant vibe that runs through the place whether it’s a weekday happy hour or a Friday night with live music. And part of the reason is the expansive patio out back, which is the place to be this time of year.
The two-story patio is occupied by a wealth of tables where you’ll find neighborhood denizens (young and middle-aged) drinking, laughing and enjoying the warm weather. Both the upstairs and downstairs patio area are covered meaning patrons won’t be bombarded by the harsh summer sun, but can still enjoy a bit of outdoor carousing.
With a large flat screen on the lower level, Grandview Cafe is also one of Columbus’ best spots to catch the big game outside. If you’ve been there for Saturday gamedays when the Bucks are facing a rival Big Ten foe, you experienced the fun and fervor.
Another one of the patio’s best aspects is the proximity of the community. Sitting outside means you’re probably going see a neighbor or friend strolling down Grandview Avenue, and then probably have a drink with them. And even if you don’t see a familiar face, simply people watching on the bustling strip is sure to offer entertainment.
