Concert preview: Punk OGs Social Distortion’s LC show should be fresh, but stacked with deep cuts

Ready for a reality check? Social Distortion formed in 1978, the same year The Clash released Give ’Em Enough Rope and just a few months after Black Flag’s first show. They are punk OGs, even if their version of punk veers dangerously close to the mall sometimes.

They’ve got a new album in the works for later this year — no more seven-year gaps between records! — so don’t be surprised to hear something fresh Friday at the outdoor LC. That said, a band this beloved with a catalog this deep is likely to be trotting out the hits. Should be a good way to spend a summer night in the city’s biggest, best backyard.

Anglophiles/Jay Reatard associates Cheap Time and hardcore singer-turned-solo act Dave Hause are also on Friday’s bill.
