Concert preview: More than just Eef Barzelay’s one hit is wonderful

Folky, nasally alt-rock trio Clem Snide’s 2001 single “Moment In the Sun” was, ironically, the band’s lone hit — maybe you remember it from TV’s “Ed” — but frontman Eef Barzelay stays busy touring tiny rooms like The Tree Bar even during periods of inactivity for the band.

His extensive collection of music on Bandcamp will more than prepare you for Saturday’s show. It’s full of one-man acoustic recordings that show off the singer-songwriter’s knack for building drama out of a few wisely chosen chords. The full-band stuff isn’t as consistently strong, so perhaps a solo set like this one is the ideal way to experience Barzelay.
