For the past five years, one of the most reliable reoccurring joys in Columbus was a visit from ethereal-yet-spastic Cincinnati indie rockers Pomegranates. After a period of sonic evolution (and apparently some spiritual evolution too), the quartet rebranded itself as Healing Power and applied its skills to an aptly described “psychedelic pop soul punk.”
According to the Jesus-namechecking interviews, the name change denotes a new vision and purpose for the band, as well as a fresh start after years of getting nowhere in the music business.
The handful of new songs on the internet suggests Healing Power continue to be a force worth reckoning with. Do that Friday at the newly remodeled, all-early-shows Kobo, where Strangers In Daylight and Vis-à-vis will open the show.
