Gretchen Wilson is now a veteran among country's badass chicks. "Redneck Woman," her country radio coming-out party, was nine years and four albums ago. But don't let that three-year gap after 2010's I Got Your Country Right Here fool you; she's hardly slowing down.
Gretchen Wilson is now a veteran among country’s badass chicks. “Redneck Woman,” her country radio coming-out party, was nine years and four albums ago. But don’t let that three-year gap after 2010’s I Got Your Country Right Here fool you; she’s hardly slowing down.
To the contrary, her aptly titled recent single “Still Rollin’” proves she’s staying strong in this meat-and-potatoes woman-of-the-people game. The also on-the-nose Right on Time, her new LP, leads off an onslaught of 2013 releases also including the covers album Under the Covers and a holiday collection called Christmas In My Heart.
Wilson’s rugged country-rock and down-home appeal are a perfect fit for Scioto Downs, where she’ll perform Friday.
