Staff Pick: “Pulp Fiction” beer tasting

From the September 5, 2013 edition

Do you like beer? Do you like “Pulp Fiction”? If you answered no to either of those questions, then I don’t think we can be friends.

The rest of you, listen up, because the Gateway Film Center is screening Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 adrenaline blast with an accompanying beer tasting.

For $15, you can sample some of the Gateway’s beer offerings and practice quoting lines from the movie. Here are some of my favorites: (edited, of course)

• “English, motherf---er, do you speak it?”

• “I do believe Marsellus Wallace, my husband, your boss, told you to take me out and do whatever I wanted. Now I wanna dance, I wanna win. I want that trophy, so dance good.”

• “I love you, Pumpkin.”

“I love you, Honey Bunny.”

• “'Garçon' means boy.”

• “Bacon tastes gooood. Pork chops taste gooood.”

• “It's the one that says Bad Motherf---er.”

Note: Previous tasting-film pairings have sold out, so you might want to procure tickets via a link on the Gateway website in advance.
