Concert preview: Inter Arma refuses to pull punches on chaotic sophomore album

It takes serious stones to kick off an album with a winding, 10-plus minute epic, but that’s precisely how the Richmond, Virginia, metalheads in Inter Arma usher in their sophomore LP Sky Burial.

It’s a fitting introduction to a record (and a band) that refuses to pull any punches, weaving together outbursts of grinding, black metal noise with more atmospheric passages that offer welcome respite from the chaos.
