With our favorite rock ’n’ roll ginger Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age coming to town, we’re counting down the 10 greatest redheads of all time.
10. Ron Weasley
A recent study has indicated that redheads may be a dying breed, but Harry Potter’s loyal pal was from a whole family of them.
9. Art Garfunkel
Garfunkel was the redheaded stepchild of musical duo Simon & Garfunkel, but Paul Simon couldn’t harmonize with himself. Give Garfunkel some love, people.
8. Joan Holloway (Harris)
No wonder she’s a fan favorite on “Mad Men.” She keeps the office humming at peak efficiency, usually has a witty barb or two for her co-workers (ahem, Pete) and never puts up with Roger Sterling’s B.S.
This toy-turned-serial-killer has become one of the most iconic slasher villains of all-time. Pretty impressive for a poor-man’s version of Teddy Ruxpin.
6. Mark Twain
America’s greatest humorist once accurately quipped, “When red-headed people are above a certain social grade their hair is auburn.”
5. Groundskeeper Willie
Even though he’s poor, illiterate and thinks movies (and video games) are real, Willie is still our favorite redheaded character from “The Simpsons.” Plus, he’s the only one more ripped than Flanders — stupid Flanders.
4. Lucille Ball
One of comedy’s greatest women produced a sitcom (“I Love Lucy”) that still holds up today. Thank you, Mrs. Ball, thank you.
3. Conan O’Brien
He’s still the best — and hilariously gangly — late night host in the biz, despite a jump to cable. And let’s not forget, Conan has the best hair of any redhead on this list, or ever.
2. Molly Ringwald
Maybe the most girl-next-door girl in movie history, she was the heart of three John Hughes classics that defined the ’80s and still resonate now (“The Breakfast Club,” “Pretty in Pink,” “Sixteen Candles”).
1. Louis C.K.
He may be losing some of that red hair, but we’ve got nothing but love for the greatest comedian alive.
