Franklinton, Columbus' new, hip arts district (move outta here Short North), brings us another specialized arts space: the 2,400-square-foot Wood. Metal. Art.
The warehouse is slated to become an interdisciplinary arts space, operating not only as an exhibition area for local artists, but also a workshop. Alongside the chic furniture and artwork, designers and craftsmen will be on hand to lead do-it-yourself design and art events.
WMA is the brainchild of owner and worldly artist Patrick Roberts, who strove to create lustrous pieces of furniture for clients. This is the product of working in the furniture design field for more than 20 years. Everyone involved is a colleague of Roberts and an expert craftsman, all of which have had experience on an international scale.
WMA is holding its grand opening tonight, featuring the paintings of local Rick Borgia on exhibition.
Even if sleek isn't your style, the new space seems to largely reflect the mixture of domestic fixtures and art. This is surely worth a stroll through.
