Concert preview: Oh Land’s latest aided by TV on the Radio guitarist and producer

Danish singer/songwriter Nanna Fabricius, who performs under the name Oh Land, recorded her latest full-length studio effort Wishbone alongside producer (and TV on the Radio guitarist) Dave Sitek, and he lends the album a textured, ethereal quality that is, at times, at odds with the pop-radio-friendly lyrics.

“Renaissance Girls,” for one, shares a sliver of thematic DNA with Destiny’s Child’s “Independent Women” (though lines like “I’m a real independent/Doing the laundry and planning for the future” don’t really scream “female empowerment!”), but it’s undercut by minor key piano chords that weigh the tune down. Best of the batch might be “Cherry on Top,” where skittish drums finally breathe life into Oh Land’s bubblegum fantasies. Sun Rai opens the show.
