The Virginia metal masters might have titled their last album Resolution, but the band’s future was up in the air for much of 2012 while frontman Randy Blythe sat in a Czech prison waiting for resolution of another sort.
The singer was arrested last year and charged with committing intentional bodily harm after Daniel Nosek, 19, climbed onstage during one of the band’s performances, fell and later died from the injuries he sustained. Blythe was acquitted of all charges in March, and the band resumed touring shortly thereafter — though the mood was far from celebratory. “Very relieved for my dear friend,” guitarist Mark Morton wrote on Twitter in the aftermath of the verdict. “But we still think of Daniel each and every day. There is nothing about this that can be ‘celebrated.’”
Even so, expect the band to revisit this difficult period in future endeavors, including a book from Blythe detailing the incident and the resulting fallout expected out sometime in 2014.
Killswitch Engage co-headlines, and Testament and Huntress open the show.
