Concert preview: Local rockers The Easy Pieces keeps things simple

By Columbus Alive
From the December 26, 2013 edition

On its Facebook site The Easy Pieces describes itself as a “rock band from Columbus, Ohio.” It’s a no-frills approach that carries over into unfussy, punk-leaning tunes like “The Runaround” and “Distraction,” a fuzzed-out, rumbling cut driven by blunt vocals that hit like a bareknuckle punch to the gut.

The band’s keep-it-simple approach, which is further reflected in its name (it’s not The Challenging Pieces for a reason), is starting to pay off. Recently the band opened for Drag the River at Ace of Cups, and in November the group released a four-track, self-titled EP that you can sample free at its BandCamp site.

Story Changes also performs.
