Keep it glassy this Mardi Gras weekend!

OK, you may need a hurricane of rum or five to like that pun, but Glassquerade sounds like some serious fun.

Glassquerade, located at and put on by the renowned glass artists collective in Grandview, Glass Axis, will have all-ages glass blowing workshops during the day. The real party starts at 8 p.m. The evening will include glass blowing demonstrations, live art performances, music and, duh, dancing. A cash bar will keep aforementioned hurricanes (or whatever spirits they have on hand) flowing.

The icing-baby in the cake will be a glass fashion show. Glass costumes, people! Got your beads ready?

Wearing your own Mardi Gras costume is encouraged, and VIP tickets are available for $50 if you want a sweet swag bag with your admission. General entry is $20. Get your tickets at eventbrite.com or at the door.

Proceeds from Glass Axis’ shindig will go toward helping the community of artists in its upcoming move to its new location in Franklinton’s fledgling arts district.
