Esteemed rock critic Robert Christgau once referred to the Cincinnati quartet as “the best band in America,” yet none of the five albums the crew has released since 2005 have been made available outside the United States.
That finally changed with 2012’s Buckeye, a widely distributed, career-spanning compilation that doubles as a perfect introduction the band’s scruffy college-rock sound, which, much like Rob Lowe, appears to have been completely unaltered by the passage of time. In more recent months, the crew has taken to comparatively exploratory material, releasing an album of collected odds and ends (Berneice Huff and Son, Bill, Sings…Popular Favorites) and Duo, a stripped-down collaboration between co-singer/songwriters Chuck Cleaver and Lisa Walker. Expect a more traditionally rollicking set here.
Closet Mix and Bloody Show open the concert.
