Concert preview: Singer/songwriter Dan Croll and his music blend comfortably into the background

At first glance, there’s little memorable about Dan Croll — just look at that press photo. With his plain white T-shirt, glasses and emotionless expression, it almost looks as if the English singer-songwriter wants to disappear undetected into the scenery, like Kevin Spacey using his Everyman appearance to hide in plain sight in “The Usual Suspects.”

The songs on his debut LP, Sweet Disarray, are similarly understated, Croll cooing atop a musical backdrop that flirts with Afrobeat (“Compliment Your Soul”) and radio-friendly pop (“Home”) without lingering long enough in either field to leave a lasting impression.

Panama Wedding also performs.
