Concert preview: German stoner-rock trio Kadavar time travels to the 1970s

The trio, which is making its first appearance in Columbus, might originate from modern Germany, but its hairy, vaguely psychedelic stoner-rock sound could have been beamed in from the early ’70s.

While the name Kadavar might conjure images of some lumbering black metal behemoth fronted by a growling demon of a man, the band’s most recent album, Abra Kadavar, actually nods to the likes of Black Sabbath, Pentagram and Blue Cheer, which could accurately be described as the riff-loving crew’s spirit animal.

Suns of Huns opens the show.
