Exhibit preview: “Impressive Impressions” offers retrospective in modern printmaking

Building upon an exhibition curated by Donald Roberts, an Ohio University emeritus professor of art, “Impressive Impressions” presents selections from Ohio University's Kennedy Museum of Art Print Collection.

The 50 prints on view showcase the foundation of the permanent collection while reflecting on the history of the medium of printmaking.

Focusing on contemporary prints from the early 1960s to 2000, “Impressive Impressions” offers viewers the chance to take in a retrospective in modern printmaking, including works from renowned artists like Jasper Johns, Christo and Michael Rothenstein.

The different styles in the medium are fully representative with lithographs, etchings, aquatint, silkscreen and more.

The opening reception, which runs from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, will also serve as the celebration for the 25th anniversary of the Riffe Gallery.

On Friday, a free tour of the exhibit led by Ohio University's Kennedy Museum Curator Petra Kralickova is from 12-1 p.m.
