Exhibit preview: Inspired by New Mexico landscapes, “Weight of the Sky” uses recognizable icons to captivate

The two exhibiting artists, Mollie Oblinger and Michael Stillion, present works in vastly different mediums, but are also a complementary balance in both aesthetic elements and inspiration.

Both inspired by the southwestern landscapes while in New Mexico, Stillion creates free-form imagery offset by tightly constructed patterns and designs, and Oblinger’s wall hangings are beautifully “beguiling landscapes” focused on the overlooked aspects of our world.

Each artist captures recognizable icons, shapes and figures, but with an abstract style that captivates.
