Concert preview: Band of Horses bounce back following acoustic tour and album

After a short acoustic tour and accompanying album —Acoustic at the Ryman, perfectly lovely if you ignore a dead-on-arrival take on “The Funeral” — the South Carolina-based crew is ready to plug back in. Here’s hoping the change of pace reinvigorated the Southern rockers, who stumbled on 2012’s lackluster Mirage Rock.

The band could actually take inspiration from prog-folk opener Midlake, which suffered through a bloated album (2010’s The Courage of Others) and lost its lead singer before regrouping for last year’s surprisingly vital Antiphon.
