Concert preview: Counterfeit Madison’s Udoh comfortable in countless guises

From the July 31, 2014 edition

An all-over-the-map bill including rapper Envelope and weirdo-punks Necropolis (yes!) makes absolute sense with Counterfeit Madison — the brainchild of serial collaborator Sharon Udoh — as the evening’s headliner. The malleable Udoh, who also plays alongside throwback swing collective The DewDroppers and instrumental trio The Apes, among others, is comfortable in countless guises, and she brings the full gale-force of her radiant personality to the stage with her work in Counterfeit Madison, which is part of the reason Alive named the artist one of our Bands to Watch in 2014. Just try and keep your eyes off her when she’s on the stage.
