Art event preview: African Village Arts Festival will feature live performances and community art projects

A host of African and African-American entertainment and activities ranging from live performances (dancers, poets, musicians), to community art projects (attendees can participate in creating a piece that will be displayed in the William H. Thomas Art Gallery sculpture garden), to an extensive artist/vendor marketplace, are available Saturday at the Central Community House (1251 Bryden Rd.).

On Sunday, “Visionary Works,” featuring works by Stephen Canneto, Pepper Johnson, Bruce Robinson, Andrew Scott and Omar Shaheed, opens (1-4 p.m.) at the William H. Thomas Art Gallery.
