For the month of September, Wild Goose Creative is running a social-media initiative designed to engage the Columbus arts community. While most use Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for narcissism (selfies, mindless, self-indulging posts), click bait (“What character from ‘Gilgamesh’ are you?) or just general amusement (cat fails!), Wild Goose is actually asking folks to have a legitimate dialog about art and interact with local artists.
Each day in September, a different artist will take over Wild Goose’s social media accounts — Instagram (@wildgoosecreative), Facebook and Twitter (@wild_goose) — and post up to 10 images of original artwork with #wildartcolumbus. At the end of the day, the artist will tally up all re-tweets, likes, reposts, etc. Each day’s most-interacted-with image will have a print for sale at the Sept. 30 Pop-Up Gallery Opening and Live Auction event. The project will be curated by Columbus artist Dan Gerdeman, and includes artists like Larry Doyle, 7-year-old mixed media artist Bear Djupe, graphic designer Cyrus Fire [pictured] and more.
