Duo mixed-media exhibition offer a sense of positivity and 'found beauty'

Molly Ryan and Adam Hernandez consider their duo exhibition, “Belleza” (Spanish for “beauty”), a respite from the ugliness they've seen from, against and among so many in recent months.

The collaborative works don't completely remove the viewer from difficult issues — Ryan's photography, for example, comes from her world travels and addresses issues of immigration — but these repurposed windows as bases for art offer a sense of positivity and “found beauty,” Ryan said.

The pieces feature Ryan's photography and collage-like layers blended with Hernandez's painting of color fields and a different take on his signature Thunderbirds.

NOTE: This exhibition is now part of “Silence is Death,” held Friday evening throughout the Franklinton art district.
