A rundown of select new films you'll find in theaters this week

New in theaters:

“Ghost in the Shell”

The acclaimed Japanese anime based on the acclaimed Japanese manga gets the live-action treatment with Scarlett Johansson starring as a cyber-enhanced soldier trying to uncover the truth about her past.

“Donnie Darko” in 4K

The Gateway Film Center is unveiling its brand-spanking-new 4K projection system with the perfect start: the restored re-release of Richard Kelly's twisty sci-fi tale of teenage angst. It's part of the Cult 101 series and is showing throughout the week. Do. Not. Miss.

“Raw”

GFC is also opening this much-hyped French horror movie about a vegetarian who undergoes changes after eating raw meat during a veterinary school hazing ritual. Even the trailer is not for the squeamish, and there have been reports of people fainting in theaters. Count me in.

“Boss Baby”

Alec Baldwin voices a baby whose arrival raises suspicions in his big brother in this animated flick from the people behind “Madagascar.”
