Vanderelli Room hosts second annual exhibition of erotic art
There aren't many places where erotic art is exhibited, so there aren't many opportunities for artists or fans of this kind of work to have the kind of experience that the curators of “Gabinetto Segreto” offered at last year's inaugural show. It was like that frustration had been held in for too long, and the exhibition was massive, with more than 160 pieces by artists from around the world.
For the 2017 edition, the curators decided to offer a show that still featured the best in erotic art by local and international artists, but this time around it's a smaller, less overwhelming show, co-curator Megan Therese Fiscus said.
“It's still the largest erotic art event in Ohio — a real sensory experience — but this year we thought to have a smaller show that really focuses on the art,” Fiscus said. “We tried to curate different media and different subject matter, to really push the artists to come up with something they thought was out of the ordinary.”
The exhibition will open with a “positive, elegant experience” on Saturday, July 29, and will also be open for a more “rocking atmosphere” during August's Franklinton Friday on Aug. 11, Fiscus said.
