With EP release show set to take place at Woodlands, musician expounds on a few of his favorites
David Lurie is the vocalist, guitarist and songwriter of Columbus band Love Alive. A six-piece, psychedelic jazz-fusion band, Love Alive is celebrating its new EP with a concert at Woodlands Tavern on Friday, Aug. 11. Here are a few things he loves.
Making our latest album was the most fulfilling experience of my music career thus far. Performing live has always been what I look forward to most, but being able to take our time in the studio and develop the songs to sound the best they can with so many other talented people was a dream come true. Working with Columbus' finest, such as Trevor Edge of Edge Studios and Joey Gurwin of Oranjudio, really took the project to the next level.
Tony Monaco Trio
Whether it's at Woodlands or at Rumba Cafe, watching the trio almost feels like going to church as a young musician. Having the opportunity to watch them regularly fills me with inspiration and Columbus pride.
I recently moved to the Merion Village/German Village area and I love it. Clintonville will always have a place in my heart, but right now the South Side is where it's at!
Music Go Round
I can't say enough how lucky we are to have these stores. There is always that next piece of gear that'll upgrade how you make and play music. MGR gives you a chance to do so affordably.
Good service should never be overlooked. Wildflower has great food served by great people.
