Start the day with yoga (and beer) and continue it with new kegs on tap each hour
Given how breweries are so woven into the fabric of a city and its neighborhoods, it's no surprise that these days an event like a brewery's anniversary party doesn't just include throwing open the doors and tapping a bunch of beers. For instance, Kindred Brewing celebrates its second anniversary on Saturday, April 7, with all of the following:Yoga Live music Bottle releases New barrel-aged beers A beer and Girl Scout cookie pairing Food trucks
“Our first anniversary in 2017 was our biggest day ever at the brewery, and we expect our second one to be even bigger,” said taproom manager Eddie Miller in a release. “It's a really great time for us to celebrate what we've accomplished over the year. We've got a fun lineup of events, and the release of two new beers is really just the cherry on top.”
The beer-centric festivities formally begin at 11 a.m., but the Gahanna taproom is opening at 9:45 a.m. for a yoga session with Thank Yoga Studio. Admission to yoga is $16 and includes a beer.
When Kindred throws the doors open at 11 a.m., it'll be hosting a beer and Girl Scout cookie pairing with a local troop. Sales of the cookies benefit Gahanna Parks & Recreation's efforts to create a natural playground at Woodside Green Park.
As a brewery focused around barrel-aging, Kindred bet big on the long game of beer production. The brewery released its first bottles in late 2016, and its first sours hit the market in June 2017. On Saturday, Kindred expands its portfolio with the bottle release of the barrel-aged Old Ale and the AU Golden Sour. The beers have been aging for 15 months and 14 months, respectively. Every hour, starting at 1 p.m., Kindred will tap kegs of new and old beers, including 2017 vintages of Wanderlust, Spring Thaw and Everlasting ales, as well as the new Old Ale and Golden Sour.
Kindred will host the Will Freed Band in the taproom from 3-6 p.m., while Ajumama, Buckeye Donuts, Sunnyside Tacos and Put It in Your Face Sandwich Cart will be serving food throughout the day.
