Shadowbox writer’s one-person show is comedic journey from childhood to parenthood

Jimmy Mak was a kid, and now he's a parent who's making sure he remembers what it was like to be a kid. The longtime Shadowbox Live writer/performer celebrates that journey in “Childish,” a one-person show, Sept. 25 at Up Front at Shadowbox Live (formerly Backstage Bistro). “I'm not setting out to make a deep statement, but at the same time the show's going to be honest,” Mak said. “It's a comedic journey.” So Mak-as-Casey Kasem reading actual love letters Mak wrote when he was a kid, for example? That'll be funny. Other character impressions, including Capt. Kirk, will also make appearances.
