Long-running fest brings Columbus focus to its beverage selections

With the continued evolution of ComFest, organizers have decided to extend their focus on local talent in 2018 by serving exclusively Columbus-made beers at the fest's beverage stations. The selections include beers from Columbus Brewing Company and Four String Brewing.

“Building community has always been the focus of the festival, so this is a natural progression," said Kevin Brammer, ComFest Libations Committee co-chair. "This highlights our commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs, and brings the quality craftsmanship of local brewers to ComFest's diverse community.”

Four String's offerings will include its popular Hilltop Heritage Lager and the newly released Hilltop Light Lager, while CBC will feature its IPA, Summer Teeth German lager and Thunderlips experimental pale ale.

“We are flattered and excited that ComFest has asked us to be such a large part of the beer options at the festival this year,” said Dan Cochran, owner of Four String Brewing, “Personally, I've attended or played as a musician at ComFest for more than 20 years. We are so excited that ComFest has chosen Hilltop Lager and Hilltop Light as beer options. … I think not having the ‘large' brewery presence makes ComFest feel all the more local.”

The brews will be served at the four festival bars: Peace Village in the northwest area of Goodale Park, Lincoln on Park Street near Lincoln Alley, Jazz at the corner of Park and Goodale streets, and Off Ramp on Goodale Street close to the I-670 off ramp.

In addition to the local brews sold during the festival itself, ComFest is partnering with Combustion Brewery, Sideswipe Brewing and 2 Tones Brewing. The three Central Ohio breweries produced a limited edition beer tied to the festival, which will be available at local bars and restaurants. One dollar from the sale of each pint of the ComFest beer will go to the festival's grants program that distributes funds to local organizations.

ComFest takes place in Goodale Park from Friday to Sunday, June 22-24. comfest.com
