The latest updates from the bar and restaurant scenes

Comune Restaurant opened for lunch this week in the new East Public development at 677 Parsons Ave. The restaurant from owners Brooke Maikut and Joe Galati serves a plant-based menu developed by executive chef Ben Kanavel. Comune plans to add dinner service soon. Meanwhile, Jimmyluka's Bar & Deli is expected to open next door at 701 Parsons Ave. in the upcoming weeks.

The Clintonville location of Westies Gastropub closed on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 4416 N. High St. Reached by phone, Westies' director of operations Connor O'Neill said staffing three restaurants became too great a challenge. Westies has two other locations in the Brewery District and the Short North that remain open. “Even though sales were good … staffing is an issue for restaurants these days. It was getting to be an everyday frustration,” he said. The restaurant group plans to use the building as an event space for the time being and will hold a farewell party for its Clintonville neighbors in the coming weeks.

The owners of Arepazo plan to close their popular flagship location Downtown at 47 N. Pearl St. The beloved lunchtime spot from owners Carlos and Carolina Gutierrez is known for its Colombian and Venezuelan fare. Its two sister locations in the Brewery District and Gahanna will remain open. Carolina Gutierrez says the couple is in negotiations to sell the restaurant to Victor Omar D'Angelo, the owner of the popular food truck Barroluco Argentine Comfort Food. A closing date for Arepazo had not yet been announced.

The new Downtown location of OH Pizza & Brew opened on Monday at 88 E. Broad St., replacing Stack'd. Its location at 250 N. Third St. is now closed.

Old Dog Alehouse & Brewery is expected to open in historic downtown Delaware next week pending inspections.The new restaurant, bar and nano-breweryat 13 W. William St. fills a location that was home to the Brown Jug restaurant for 38 years before it closed in 2007.

Akron-based Swensons Drive-In Restaurants opens its first Central Ohio location on Nov. 9. Fans of Swensons' Galley Boy cheeseburger can get their fix at 7490 Sawmill Road in Dublin.
