WOOSTER — Registration is now open for Ballet Wooster’s fall semester classes, which will begin Sept. 5. A variety of dance classes will be offered for ages 3 through adult, as well as performance opportunities for ages 5 and up.
The dance program is organized into four progressive categories based on age, ability and commitment level: pre dance, elementary ballet, intermediate/advanced company (pre-professional) and recreational dance, which includes adult ballet and musical theater. Registration forms are available at www.balletwooster.org. Registration night is Aug. 22, from 6-7 p.m. at 5246 Cleveland Road, Suite E. Attending registration night will allow those who are interested in the program to visit the studio, register in person, meet the instructors, and pay by credit card. New students are welcome and family discounts are offered if more than one child is enrolled.
Ballet Wooster will present "The Nutcracker" Dec. 9 and 10, at the Wooster High School Performing Arts Center. Open auditions will be Aug. 26 from 10-11 a.m. for adult students and community members to fill the party scene and other limited adult roles.
Those auditioning should wear comfortable clothes and clean shoes that allow for movement. While no formal dance experience is required, auditionees can expect to perform basic movement steps and show acting skills. Some stage experience is preferred. Students ages 5 through 18 who are enrolled in Ballet Wooster fall semester classes will have the opportunity to perform in "The Nutcracker" and will not need to audition.
