One of the main goals at the Junior/Senior High School is to incorporate community members and organizations into the curriculum. We strive to teach students the importance of being a positive citizen, giving back to their community, and educate them on real-life situations.

A great example of this goal was Mrs. Harrah’s class working with the American Red Cross recently on a pillow case project, which is sponsored by Disney. This project teaches children coping skills to help them deal with an emergency situation. The speaker discussed being prepared for tornadoes and house fires and students learned about about coping skills during and after emergencies. Students took a short quiz to show what they learned and also took a pledge to become a member. The pillowcases and fabric markers were donated to the students. The pillowcases are personalized by each student and their workbook has "suggested items" to include in the pillowcase in emergency situations. What a great project for Windham students!
