Libraries Rock Summer Library Challenge – The Holmes County District Public Library’s Summer Library Challenge for kids, teens and adults is now an online program. Participants can earn points for logging each day they read and for completing activities from any device. Points earned can be used toward a variety of prize drawings. Fan Art Contest at the Library – Announcing the Holmes County Library second annual Fan Art Contest for this summer. Fans of all ages can create artworks of any type to be displayed at the Central Library during the Comic Con in the ’Burg, Saturday, June 23. Fan art is artwork created by fans of a work of fiction, and derived from a series’ character or other aspect of that work. Artwork can be submitted in any medium. Enter your original or fan art creation for a chance to win a prize. Entries will be accepted June 1-22 at the Central Library. Outback Ray’s Amazing Animal Show at the Central Library – Monday, June 4 at 6:30 p.m. Join Outback Ray and his animal friends as they help kick off the Libraries Rock Summer Library Challenge. Summer Paint Night at the Central Library – Tuesday, May 5 at 6 p.m. Catherine Lynch will be teaching step-by-step how to create a beach-themed painting. In person registration is required. A $5 non-refundable materials fee is due at time of registration. This program is for adults.

Akron Zoomobile: Animals Rock at the East Branch – Wednesday, June 6 at 11 a.m. The Akron Zoo comes to the East Branch to help kick off the 2018 Summer Library Challenge. Teen Lip Sync Battle at the Central Library – Thursday, June 7 at 6 p.m. Do you have what it takes to be the Lip Sync Champion? Take a song and come find out. For teens in grades 6-12. The Wolf: Fact or Myth at the Central Library – Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m. At this informative program you will learn about the family life, habitat, and basic facts and myths surrounding wolves as well as the importance of wolves as part of the ecosystem. The Spoon Man at the Central Library – Monday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m. Join this interactive music and comedy program featuring big band, mountain, rap and heavy metal music played with spoons. Audience members will be able to participate in a sing-along competition. This is a free program. The Spoon Man will also have his book, "Spoon Boy," available for purchase after the show.
