"On the reservation, art was used to tell a story. So I started telling landscape stories with my paint," she said. "When I returned home to Ohio, I found I had a deeper appreciation for my surroundings."
Her current work reflects those surroundings, featuring images of Ohio creeks, stone formations, dirt roads and tree-lined vistas. A prolific painter who spends anywhere from four to 12 hours a day working, her blog is routinely updated with pictures of her in her studio, surrounded by canvases, as well as recent photographs that she's taken out in the wilds of Ohio. Most recently, she says, Sharon Woods and Blendon Woods metro parks have been her sources of inspiration.
She has been working the arts-festival circuit for five years, and spends most of the summer months alternating between the road and the studio. While she's applied before, this is the first time she's juried into the Columbus Arts Festival.
