Talib Kweli
When: 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6
Where: Skully's Music Diner, Short North
Talib Kweli spent a night in Columbus last spring to work on a new track at Clintonville's
Central City Recording. He blew through town to collaborate with Chester French, who had played at
Capital University earlier that night, and Hi-Tek, the Cincinnati-based DJ-producer-rapper with
whom Kweli sometimes works under the name Reflection Eternal.
Now it seems Reflection Eternal's second album, Revolutions Per Minute - the first since 2000's Train of Thought - will drop this fall. Whether the fruits of that April session made the cut remains to be seen, but Kweli might tip his hand Friday when the backpacker-turned-tough-guy-turned-backpacker plays Skully's.
The long list of openers includes The 3rd, Adjust, DJ Inform, Liquid Crystal Project, Omnibreed, Matt Reed and T.G.P. and the Usual Suspects. -Chris DeVille
