Paper Route hails from Nashville, but their cyborg stadium rock is a far cry from the strictly codified standards kicked out by that town's workmanlike songwriting corps.
They start from a familiar position, with emotionally charged anthems in the vein of U2 or Arcade Fire. Graft in jarring electronic clatter and apply gauzy, My Bloody Valentine-inspired swoons, and you're getting close to approximating this anomalous amalgamation.
The band's recorded works conjure a cinematic light-in-the-darkness, hope-in-despair effect. Whether they can pull off the same trick live will be seen during an early show Sunday, when they'll open for MewithoutYou.
